Plantation’s natural environment is unsurpassed by other South Florida cities. It has been recognized for over 30 consecutive years, as “Tree City USA” and is one of only a handful of cities in the nation to be designated a “Sterling Tree City USA,” and a National Wildlife Federation “Community Wildlife Habitat.” Situated among thousands of trees are safe, friendly neighborhoods, world-class recreation facilities and a stable business community supported by three distinct business districts.
Plantation grew from a sleepy farm of 36 people in 12 homes back in 1948 to around 85,000 residents today. Folks enjoy more modern homes with more space. What attracts residents are the plentiful parks, golf courses, dog parks and other neighborhood outdoor activities. A planned community named Jacaranda lies within its borders with condominiums, apartments and townhomes all surrounding a large community clubhouse and golf courses. Major companies with offices in Plantation include American Express and Motorola, and plenty of folks work at the enormous Broward Mall.
