Coral Springs is a planned community located to the west of Fort Lauderdale, with it’s western boundary all the way out against the Everglades in western Broward County. Before its incorporation in 1963, the 20,000 or so acres of the new city was used for bean farming or for raising cattle. The city added nineteen public schools, a regional mall, shopping centers and parks during the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s to accommodate rapid population growth in this popular tranquil suburban village. Most of the housing stock was also built between the 1970’s and 1990 and homes are mostly modern, in well manicured subdivisions, featuring plenty of recreational amenities.
