The City of Sunrise was originally incorporated in 1961 as Sunrise Golf Village. Over the past 50+ years, it has grown from a small suburban community to a diverse City of more than 90,000 residents. Sunrise is a full-service City that owns and operates its Utilities Department, providing water and sewer services to approximately 200,000 people in a 70-square-mile utility service area. The City offers a wide variety of recreational programs and facilities, including swimming pools, a tennis club, a golf club, a theater and art gallery, an athletic club and eight parks.
